Filming Blog: Preparing to Film the Rest

Last time we filmed we didn't finish. We didn't have enough time and our driver couldn't show up. We did film some openings and dialogue. I decided we will film Friday. I have asked everyone In the group so far and everyone said yes. We may have to shoot Saturday night instead. I have asked everyone except the driver, who isn't our group. I have many friends however, that can dry by themselves with their driver's license. So, if One of the drivers can't come we can get someone else. If no one can drive for us, then we will film on Saturday night and it won't be a big deal. We have all of our props ready to go. I have my house set up. I got the camera for filming ready. I bought some energy drinks for us too. We are filming at night so if we get tired I have these to pick us up. I have swimming in the morning on Saturday so the drinks will be helpful. We will use the same clothes as last time for continuity. Make everyone bring the same things. Make sure that the time of day isn’t out of order. This will be my teammate.

Filming Blog: The Start

We all got together and Filmed. I used my house because it was the best place for our shots. We did the first few shots for the opening. We filmed Friday night. I used my phone for filming because it did better than the cameras we had. I didn't act. I mainly came up with the actor's moves and reactions. I may act next week however, because we didn't get to the killer part yet. I t old the camera man to start with filming a close up on the window. Then the camera would slowly zoom out to reveal what the main characters were missing. I said to shoot like still close ups on things so we could have titles on stuff. One of the door and on ground. I made everyone restart when i saw the dialogue not being told properly. We didn't have a car to use yet however. We had to wait for another friend of ours came and drove us around. He has a license. So I decided we should wait to film the rest. We still have next week so it will be fine. We can also look over some stuff that we can re-shoot. This is the camera we filmed with.

Filming blog: Preparations

This weekend is when we will record most of our stuff.  Today however, my team and I discussed the logistics of where and how we will film. We confirmed that we will film at my house. I said we didn't have to check out a camera. We could just use the camera on our phones because most of our phones are better than the cameras the teacher offers. We chose my house because I have a cemetery not too far from it. I decided that we could use that as a safer solution than driving further. I was describing what my house looked like and showed a few pictures to the team. We all discussed camera angles and movements. We also talked about positioning for actors. We came up with the idea to not show outside the window while driving. Some shots we won't actually be driving. We would be pretending to instead of being distracted while driving. This was the safer solution. I also grabbed some stuff around the house for props. Some for the imaginary party that is upstairs. Some for the car ride. Some also for the cemetery. We didn't do any filming yet but we will over the weekend. This was our last week of chilling before really grinding this project.

Planning Blog: Storyboard

This is the Last of our planning blogs. The storyboard was probably the hardest to do but also the most fun. We start off with two people at a party and one doesn't seem well. The other is irritated at the ill one because they have to go home because of him. They sort it out and learn they have a history with each other. The uber arrives and they hop in. They uber driver is quite and seems sketchy. They go to the cemetery when the car supposedly ran out of gas. That's when the uber driver tricks one of the people by hitting them in the head with a shovel. The other finally recognizes the uber driver and that is where it ends.

Planning Blog: Title design

Title designs may not seem like the most important factor of a film, however they are probably one of the most important parts of the film. If written and edited right, they can really set the standard for your film from the very beginning. Having a boring and poorly edited title design/designs will make the expectations of the rest of your film very low and will discourage the viewers from watching more. The most important parts of media are satisfying your viewers, which will in turn make money for you and your industry. That is why the title designs are such an important factor. We will have a multitude of different types of title design, while also following the order of titles. Our film will consist of middle screen titles. This will mainly just be the actual title of our film. We will add effects to this to make it less boring and more engaging. We will also have foreground titles which relate with the theme of the film. Finally we will implement titles that are blended in the background. These are meant to be the "less important" titles that the viewers are supposed to try to catch. These will help engage the audience as well.

Planning blog: Location, Participants, Health, Schedule

This film will require all of our group members. We will have three actors, one person filming, and another to do the editing. In order to organize and plan this out, we needed to write it down and make sure all of our team mates were aware of the plan. Location is one of the most important factors of our film. The location will decide where we will film, as well as determine the setting and mood of the film. The participants are the people that will help in the production of our film. This includes actors, the director, and the editor. Health is also an important part of the production of our film. Making safety precautions ensures that our team will always be safe, which is very important, and makes sure that the filming location is safe to film at. Finally, the schedule will keep our group organized and help get our film finished in a timely manner.

Planning Blog: Sound Script

for our sound script, we wrote down all of our noises that we will use for our movie. thankfully, the noises are all during the scene while we film, so we do not have to add any noises post editing process. any transitions that we would have to use thankfully only would be jump cuts, further lowering the time it would take to edit.  All in all, we will have a very brief and quick editing process so we can focus on filming and making our acting the best it can be. the sounds take very little meaning in this film portion, but it is made up for by the acting. the majority of our film is focused on the angles of the camera and how the characters react to the crazy situation that both of these lovable scamps get into. the driver is silent for most of the film but this adds to his mysterious aura. Tyler and steive obviously have a past history and the dialogue shows as much. The dialogue will help bring suspense and confusion. We will also add diegetic sound like wind breezing by to create more suspense, because that is the most important element in a thriller.

Planning Blog:Shooting Script

This script describes everything that will be in our final project not including the dialogue and sound. Our shooting script consists of 11 different and unique scenes, each scene having a variety of different camera angles, and lighting effects. This is especially important in our film because our film is a thriller/horror film. One of the most important elements of a thriller is its use of mystery and suspense. The different camera angles will help build suspense. For example, the over-the-shoulder shots will build suspense by concealing the killers identity. The lighting effects will also build suspense. Low key lighting will also help conceal the killers identity, showing him only as a silhouette. This will build tension which should make the viewer scared and tense. This will be backed up by eerie sound effects and dialogue to create even more suspense.
